An e-scooter user has died in Sligo after he was hit by a van. 

The man, who was in his 50s, was travelling through Rusheen in Riverstown at 8.10pm yesterday evening when the crash took place. 

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the L1303 road remains shut as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out an inspection. 

The driver of the van, a man in his 30s, is being treated at Sligo University Hospital for minor injuries. 

Anyone travelling in Rusheen around the time of the crash has been asked to contact Ballymote Garda Station.
