A man has been arrested after Gardaí seized cash estimated to be worth €500,000 following an operation in Cavan and Dublin.
It was part of an intelligence-led operation on Sunday, involving targeting members of an organised crime group.
They are suspected to be involved in large-scale trafficking of controlled drugs and associated money laundering.
The money was discovered during the search of five premises in Co Cavan and on the north side of Dublin city.
One man, aged 38, was arrested and is being detained in Navan Garda station.
Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll said: "This operation demonstrates the continued determination of An Garda Síochána to target organised crime through stopping the flow of money suspected to be proceeds of crime and which provides the motivation for organised crime groups to trade in drugs".
It was carried out by personnel attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) within Organised and Serious Crime.
