Clubs and sporting bodies are being given access to a €70 million support package to help them reopen after the COVID-19 crisis.
The funding, approved by Cabinet earlier, will be primarily spent on field sports - with up to €40 million being given to the FAI, IRFU and GAA.
€15 million. meanwhile, is being provided to support clubs.
Sports Ireland welcomed today's announcement, and noted that "only those organisations in absolute need will be assisted" by the funding.
All sporting activity can resume from 29 June as part of plans to speed up the reopening of the country.
However, strict rules about the number of spectators will still apply, and it will be up to individual organisations to decide when they'll begin activities again.
The funding package will support national governing bodies and clubs whose survival is threatened following the pandemic.
Sport Minister Shane Ross says the funding is about recognising the work of sports clubs in recent months:
He said: "Ireland has missed sport - communities have suffered an enormous amount.
"This particular allotment of money is a recognition of the tremendous community work that is being done by small and large sports clubs, and by many other people, to help vulnerable people."
Minister of State for Sport, Brendan Griffin, said there was a 'real danger' that some clubs may not have reopened after the COVID crisis.
He said the funding is therefore aimed at ensuring the survival of the country's 'sporting infrastructure and landscape'.
