EastEnders has come out on top at the Inside Soap Awards tonight, scooping seven trophies.

The BBC1 show’s haul included the top prize of Best Soap at the ceremony, while Gillian Wright, who plays Jean Slater, picked up the Best Actress title.

Actress Hetti Bywater won Best Newcomer for her portrayal of Albert Square’s Lucy Beale.

Tameka Empson and Ricky Norwood, who play Kim Fox and Arthur Chubb, were voted Funniest Female and Funniest Male.
