The Editor of Closer magazine in France is defending her decision to publish topless pictures of the Duchess of Cambridge.

Laurence Pieau says they are not shocking.

Palace officials have called the snaps a ‘grotesque’ invasion of the privacy of the Royal couple.

They were taken while Kate was holidaying in Provence last week.

Prince William and Kate Middleton are currently on a visit to Malaysia.

St. James’s Palace says it takes us back to the worst press excesses during the life of Princess Diana.

The Palace is consulting French lawyers over the issue.

Pieau says “more intimate” photos were available and may be printed by another publication.
