Education Minister Ruairi Quinn was at Waterford Institute of Technology this afternoon to officially open a new €5m research building, which is hoped will go towards generating 600 jobs in the coming years.
The new Netlabs building is the biggest in the research area of all 14 I.T's countrywide.
WIT has applied with IT Carlow to be upgraded to a technological university.

However Minister Quinn says you can't just change the name over the door.
