The Education Minister says the progress in securing compensation for institutional abuse victims is very slow and very unsatisfactory.
Ruairi Quinn says only one of the eighteen various religious congregations has accepted in principal the 50:50 contribution to the fund.
Its estimated the final compensation bill will be in the region of 1.5 billion euro – but Minister Quinn says the amount paid in by the groups is way shy of what is required.

He’s calling on the congregations to hand over to the State the title deeds to their education and health infrastructure to make up the shortfall:
