More than 53,700 students will start their Leaving Cert exams later this morning, while almost 3,000 will begin the Leaving Cert Applied.
Over 60,000 teenagers will also sit their Junior Cert exams.
Minister Quinn is urging students to take it easy in the evenings and not to try to cram too much.
