Gardaí have seized drug-mixing machinery and cocaine worth more than €2.8m in a raid on a facility in Dublin.
The planned raid was carried out by Gardaí investigating the Kinahan organised crime group.
As part of the operation, Gardai intercepted two cars in the Blanchardstown and Ballyfermot areas and carried out the planned raid on a facility on the Long Mile Road.
During the operation, investigators uncovered 40kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of €2.8m.
They also recovered a hydraulic Drugs Press, a quantity of mixing agent and drug-mixing paraphernalia.
The search also uncovered over 2,000 canisters of nitric oxide, €78,000 in cash and a money counter.
Assistant Commissioner with responsibility for Organised and Serious Crime Justin Kelly said:
“Today’s operation and substantial seizure of cocaine has shown An Garda Síochána is determined to disrupt the distribution networks of organised groups who cause harm to our communities.”
Seven men and one woman, aged between their late 20s and early 50s were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and were detained at Garda stations in the Dublin region.
Two of the men have since been released.
The search was carried out with the assistance of the Garda Dog Unit and officers from Divisional Drug Units at Ballyfermot and Sundrive Road Garda stations.
