Eight people have been arrested in Co. Clare in connection with unofficial night time motoring events. A woman and seven men aged in their teens and 20s were detained at a number of locations around the county this morning.
The drivers of modified cars were targeted as part of an intelligence-led operation.
An operation was mounted by gardaí after they became aware of planned and organised events involving drivers of modified cars.
It follows an event at the Corkscrew Hill in Ballyvaughan on the night of March 7th last which was attended by 70 vehicles.
As a result of intelligence gathered by gardaí on the night, the searches were carried on the night out this morning at two houses in Clare.
The eight people arrested are being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
