Eir has apologised to customers that were charged double this month after a “technical error”.
The error saw direct debit payments for broadband and telephone bills processed twice.
Eir has said a “small number of customers” were impacted – after the Irish Independent reported that around 3,000 customers were charged twice.
In a statement, the company said the cause of the issue was “quickly identified and has been rectified” – noting that all refunds have now been processed.
It said impacted customers were notified via text message or email and they do not need to take any further action.
The company said the error occurred during a “planned transition to an upgraded billing system”.
“Eir sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused and wants to assure customers that all refunds are in progress,” it said.
