An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car in Co Tipperary. It happened on the Borrisokane to Portumna N65 road at arounnd 9:30 am this morning.
The man (72) was on a pedal bike at Lahinch on the main Borrisokane to Portumna road, some 3km outside Portumna.
He was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick. where a post mortem will be carried out later.
The female driver of the car (51) was uninjured.
The road is closed pending a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
