A 70-year-old man has died in a car crash in County Galway.
Gardaí said the man was fatally injured when the car he was driving hit a wall on the Ballinasloe to Laurencetown Road, at Sycamore Hill at approximately 8.30pm last night.
He was the only person in the car and there were no other vehicles involved in the accident.
His body was removed from the scene and taken to the morgue at University Hospital Galway where a postmortem will take place.
Emergency services remain at the scene and the road remains closed as Gardaí carry out a forensic examination of the crash site.
Local diversions remain in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who travelled the road around the time of the accident to contact them.
