Gardai are appealing for information after an elderly man was held at knifepoint in his home in Dublin yesterday.

The 78-year-old was threatened by a man who broke into his house on Old Street in Malahide between 3 and 3.30 yesterday afternoon.

The man was locked in a room while the intruder made off with a small quantity of jewellry.

Gardai in Malahide are appealing for anyone who saw a man behaving suspiciously in the Old Street area to contact them.
