An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car in a supermarket carpark in County Cork.
Two people were hit by the car in the incident in Fermoy at around 11.15am this morning.
The elderly man, who was in his 90s, was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman in her 60s was taken by to Cork University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
The driver received medical attention in the supermarket carpark.
The scene has been preserved for technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to contact Fermoy Garda Station.
They are particularly interested in any pedestrians travelling around Courthouse Road, Fermoy Town, between 10.45 and 11.30 this morning.
Any road users who may have camera footage are also asked to come forward.
