A pedestrian in his 60s has died after being struck by a car in a hit and run in Donegal on Sunday.

The incident took place on Main Street, Clonmany, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victim was taken to Letterkenny Hospital and then transferred to the Beaumont in Dublin, where he passed away on Wednesday.

Earlier in the week a man in his 30s was arrested and appeared in court in connection with the incident on Monday.

The post-mortem examination will now take place.
