People heading to Electric Picnic will likely have a "jumper on, jumper off" weekend as the weather looks good.
This year's festival gets underway from today and winds up on Monday with some 75,000 festival-goers attending.
An Garda Síochána has issued traffic and travel advice and is asking people to avoid using their satellite navigation or GPS devices when heading to Stradbally over the weekend.
Alan O'Reilly from Carlow Weather told The Pat Kenny Show the weather is looking good but will be cooler in the evening.
"That band of rain that's crossing the country and has dropped up to 20mm of rain in parts of the west will clear by afternoon," he said.
"So by 5pm Stradbally should be clear of rain.
"The sun will be coming out and it'll be a lovely evening; a little breezy but a lovely evening with some nice sunshine.
"It will get chilly tonight though, so the woolly socks might be a good one to add to the packing list if you're staying in a tent".
Alan said night-time temperatures are set to drop to around 6C. For Friday, he said it'll be a good day generally.
"A lovely sunny start and cloud will increase a little but still good sunny spells," he said.
"A little breezy but nothing too significant with temperatures getting up to 19C or 20C.
"Not as cool Friday night; still down to maybe 10C so still chilly and Saturday looks a good day as well.
"A little more cloud around and there is a small chance of a light shower."
'Higher chance of a shower'
Alan said temperatures on Saturday will stay around 19C or 20C with more cloud around at night.
"Sunday's looking pretty good too; a little bit of cloud around, maybe a little bit of a higher chance of a shower but light if it does come," he said.
"It looks fairly good on Sunday, up to 19C or 20C, and it should hold dry until Monday afternoon.
"So for everybody coming in it should stay really dry until they're leaving on Monday".
Alan added that as the ground is quite hard people "might want a good mallet" for putting up their Electric Picnic tents.
