Electricians across the country are to strike later this month over a pay claim.
Members of the Technical, Engineering and Electrical Union have voted by 94% in favour of a nationwide strike from Monday 24th February.
They say they are owed a 4.9% pay rise, recommended by the Labour Court in 2009, but instead employers are now looking for pay cuts.
The strike is set to hit all sectors including energy suppliers, multinationals and the construction industry.
Union spokesperson Padraig Yeates spoke to Newstalk's Lunchtime:
He is warning any dispute will have a definite impact on economic activity.
