Two people are to appear in court in the UK next month in connection with a photo apparently showing the body of Emiliano Sala in a mortuary.
The 28-year-old footballer died in January after the light aircraft he was travelling in crashed en route from Nantes to Cardiff.
His body was later found in the plane's wreckage during a private recovery operation in the English Channel.
Pilot David Ibbotson also disappeared in the crash, and his body has not been found.
In April, it was confirmed police were investigating reports that a photo of the footballer's body was posted on social media
Today, Wiltshire Police confirmed two people have been summonsed to appear in court on July 10th in connection with the photo.
Sherry Bray (48) of Charles Street, Corsham, faces three counts of computer misuse, perverting the course of justice and sending an indecent/offensive message.
Christopher Ashford (62) of Page Close, Calne, has been summonsed in relation to six counts of computer misuse.
Anthony Johns, senior lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service, said the summonses follow "a careful review of the evidence".
He said: "The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendants are now active and that they have the right to a fair trial.
"It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
