In Australia friends and family of Jill Meagher have spoken of her unique personality and her passion for life in a moving funeral ceremony in Melbourne.
41-year-old Adrian Ernest-Bayley has been charged with her rape and murder.
He is due back in court in January.
Jill’s father, mother, brother, husband and 2 friends spoke to hundreds of people who gathered for her funeral at Fawkner Memorial Park for the hour-long ceremony.
It ended with the release of 29 doves representing one for each year of her life and as a symbol of her free spirit.
A memorial mass will also be held in St. Peter’s Church in Drogheda in Co. Louth this evening at 7pm.
Her father George McKeon has paid an emotional tribute to her.
He told the congregation that Jill is never far from his thoughts.

Jill was abducted and killed after a night out in Melbourne last month.

She told Breakfast here on Newstalk it was a very moving service.
