If you are looking for a novel way to dispose of your Christmas Tree - then Ennis in Co. Clare is the place to be today.

The town is hosting the second annual Christmas Tree Throwing Championship.

Each participant will get three attempts at throwing their tree.

The competition record stands at 7 metres, while the world record, set at an event in Germany in 2010, is 12 metres.

All money raised at the event at Lees Road Sports Amenity Park, will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland.
