The Equality Authority and the Irish Human Rights Commission are looking to take part in a Supreme Court appeal against a landmark surrogacy ruling.
Earlier this year the High Court found the genetic mother of twin girls could be named as their mother on their birth certificates.
The babies were born to the woman’s sister, who acted as a surrogate.

In the next few weeks the Equality Authority and IHRC will apply to be joined as a’ friend of the court’ in the upcoming appeal.
If their bid is granted, they will act in an advisory role to the court during the hearing.
