The ESB is celebrating its 85th birthday today.
A special ceremony to mark the occasion was held at Ardnacrusha Power Station in Co. Clare this afternoon.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny was in attendance, and so too was the former Taoiseach, 92 year old Liam Cosgrave, who attended the official opening of the ESB back in 1929.
The Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte was also at today’s event.
