Around 3,500 homes are still without power this afternoon - after lightning strikes this morning caused disruption to the electricity supply. 

The south of the country has been affected - with the majority of outages in Kilkenny, Clonmel, Bandon and Arklow. 

ESB crews are working to repair the lines. It's hoped power will be restored to all areas by 5 o'clock this evening.
