The ESB's working to restore power to around 4 thousand of its customers this morning.
High winds battered many parts of the country overnight, with Limerick, Kerry, Clare, Mayo, Donegal, Roscommon, Cork and north Dublin all affected.
Met Eireann has weather alerts in place until 10 this morning, warning of winds with gusts of up to 130 kilometres in western coastal areas.
The Road Safety Authority is advising extreme care, with motorists advised to look out for debris on roads, and take extra care around cyclists and motorcyclists.
