More than 100,000 EU citizens are stranded in countries outside the bloc due to coronavirus travel restrictions.
The European Commission says it is working closely with national governments to help them return home.
It has organised 13 flights to repatriate 3,000 people from countries such as Egypt, Morocco, the Philippines and Argentina.

She said: "We are getting ready to bring home Europeans from Peru, Maldives, Mongolia and many African countries.
"In the past two days, we have repatriated hundreds of EU citizens from Morocco."
Meanwhile, a Dublin woman says thousands of people are struggling to get home from Lanzarote.
Irish citizens in Spain and the Canary Islands had been asked to return home by tonight due to travel restrictions implemented by the Spanish government - although that has since been extended until Saturday due to the numbers involved.
Trish is in Arrecife Airport trying to leave the island.
She explained: "It's absolutely chaos - I've never seen anything like it.
"There's thousands of people out there... standing since 7am this morning. There's nowhere to get anything to eat, no water, nothing."
