US Democrats to move ahead with articles of impeachment against Donald Trump

Democrats in the US House of Representatives will move ahead with articles of impeachment against Donald Trump.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made the announcement at a press conference in Washington DC this afternoon, after weeks of private and public committee hearings in the impeachment inquiry.

A decision to draw up articles of impeachment is a significant step forward in the process, moving the House of Representatives closer to an impeachment vote.

National Children's Hospital board 'can't say exactly' what final cost will be

Construction of the National Children's Hospital has been delayed by two months and there is no final cost for the project.

Representatives from the National Paediatric Hospital Development Board appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) this morning to give an update on the plans.

The board's chairman Fred Barry said that costs are likely to exceed the guaranteed maximum price due to reasons including inflation and design changes.

Dáil to vote next week on bill calling for three-year rent freeze

The Dáil will vote next week on whether or not to support a rent freeze on existing and new tenancies.

Sinn Féin has moved a bill calling for rents to be immediately frozen for three years, with all new rental properties pegged at market rates in that area.

If passed, it means rents would be frozen at current levels until at least 2023.

A Fianna Fáil TD has said he will vote no confidence in the Government if given a chance.

John McGuinness has called the confidence and supply arrangement with Fine Gael "a farce."

He has accused his own party of sitting on its hands during the motion of no confidence in Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy this week.

Five men in court over alleged Dublin murder plot

Five men have appeared in court charged in connection with an alleged plot to murder Patsy Hutch - the brother of Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch.

All of them are also accused of taking part in a conspiracy to murder another unknown person between February 1st and March 10th last year.
