Ursula von der Leyen voted in as first woman EU Commission president
German politician Ursula von der Leyen has been voted in as the new president of the European Commission.
Her position was ratified by 383 votes in favour on Tuesday night - 327 against and 22 abstentions.
She is set to take office on November 1st for a five-year term.

Health Minister Simon Harris is denying lives are being put at risk because of the latest CervicalCheck controversy.
It has emerged that 50 women out of the 800 who were not given their results due to an IT issue have tested positive for the HPV virus.
The tests were carried out at the Quest lab in the US state of Virginia between October of 2018 and June this year.

Shih Tzu dog 'eaten alive' by maggots in Dublin
A young dog has died in what the DSPCA calls the worst case of coat matting and cruelty seen for many years.
Last Thursday, the charity received a call relating to a collapsed dog in the Lisdisfarne area of Clondalkin in west Dublin.
The dog, a small female Shih Tzu, was found in a severally matted state.
