Ian Bailey indicted for murder by French court
Ian Bailey has been served with a murder indictment by a French court.
Mr Bailey is the chief suspect for the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in December 1996.
The French authorities are seeking to put Mr Bailey on trial in France.
He was served with the papers at his west Cork home this week.
US court rejects Trump bid to re-instate travel ban
Judges have rejected Donald Trump's appeal to have his travel ban immediately reinstated.
On Friday, federal judge James Robart halted the order that temporarily blocked all refugees and citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the US.
The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals denied a formal request by the US Department of Justice to lift the ruling on Sunday.
Le Pen kicks off her presidential campaign
The far-right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has officially started her bid for the presidential election in April.
She recently made a fiery speech at a rally in Lyon where she attacked globalisation and radical Islam.
She's also promised a referendum on membership of the EU - and a clampdown on immigration, claiming Islamic fundamentalism is a threat to the French way of life.
Cameroon have won the Africa Cup of Nations
Cameroon have staged a major upset, by clinching the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 15 years with the winning goal coming the final minutes of normal time.
After slipping into a 1-0 deficit, Cameroon equalised in the 59th minute through defender Nicolas Nkoulou from a corner. That goal cancelled out Mohamed Elneny's opener for Egypt in the opening 22 minutes.
And with time running out, Cameroon emerged the unlikely winners with substitute Vincent Aboubakar scoring a stunning goal on 88 minutes to win the title.
1 in 10 school children have been cyberbullied
New research shows that 14% of primary school children and 10% of post-primary school children have been cyberbullied.
The research was released today by the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre at Dublin City University.
The figures have been highlighted ahead of Safer Internet Day (7th February, 2017) and will form part of an in-depth review to be published later this year. The full report will comprise an analysis of all studies on cyberbullying in Ireland from 1997 to the present time.
