Public urged not to share images relating to brutal murder of Drogheda teenager

Gardaí are calling on the public not to share images and videos appearing to relate to the brutal murder of Drogheda teenager Keane Mulready-Woods.

Investigators said the images, shared on social messaging apps, remain unverified.

In a statement, they said the images are distressing to Keane’s family and, if they turn out to be genuine, are “disrespectful to the deceased and provide false support to the perpetrators of this brutal crime.”

Shortall: We are indifferent as to who could lead coalition after election

The co-leader of the Social Democrats, Roisin Shortall, refused to be drawn on who her party would enter into government with after the general election.

She said she is indifferent as to who would lead a coalition: Leo Varadkar or Michael Martin.

The party is running 20 candidates across various constituencies.

Ryanair shuts three bases on Spain's Canary Islands

Irish airline Ryanair has shut three bases on Spain's Canary Islands.

The carrier has confirmed its Tenerife, Lanzarote and Gran Canaría bases closed on January 8th.

It said this was due to "the continued late delivery of the Boeing Max aircraft".

Taoiseach accepts apology from Sinn Féin councillor Paddy Holohan

The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said he accepts the apology offered by a Sinn Fein councillor, who said the country should be run by 'a family man'.

Former MMA fighter Paddy Holohan also questioned Mr Varadkar's connection to Ireland because of his Indian heritage.

He also questioned why Mr Varadkar chose the months before the Marriage Equality referendum to come out as gay.

GDPR seems to have got in the way of a pet photo opportunity for Fianna Fáil leader on the campaign trail.

Micheál Martin took to supermarkets, butcher shops and hairdressers while out canvassing in Drumcondra in Dublin on Thursday.

He was also hoping to get a photo with a dog getting their hair cut in Dowth Avenue Dog Groomers.
