US basketball star Kobe Bryant dies in helicopter crash
US basketball legend Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash in the Californian suburb of Calabasas.
Five people died after the aircraft went down in a remote field at around 10am local time today, according to the City of Calabasas.
The 41-year-old played with the Los Angeles Lakers during his 20-year career and won five NBA championships.
It is with great sadness that we learn of the death of Kobe Bryant and four others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas. The aircraft went down in a remote field off Las Virgenes around 10:00 this morning. Nobody on the ground was hurt. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.

Gardaí waiting for toxicology results following death of three children in west Dublin
Gardaí say post-mortem examinations have been carried out on the bodies of three children found dead at a house in south-west Dublin.
The post-mortems on the three children were completed by Assistant State Pathologist Margot Bolster at the Dublin City Morgue on Saturday evening.
Gardaí say interim post-mortem results are not being published for operational reasons - while they await further toxicology results.

Man dies after being stabbed at house in Wexford
A man has died after being stabbed at a house in Co Wexford.
The 33-year-old was discovered in the front garden of a house at Ramsgate Village in Gorey shortly before 2.00am on Sunday.
Gardaí say they are investigating "all of the circumstances" surrounding his death.

Taoiseach continues to rule out coalition with Sinn Féin
The Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has continued to rule out the possibility of a coalition with Sinn Féin.
Mr Varadkar said Fine Gael's "big problem" is Sinn Féin's stance on the Special Criminal Court.
The Taoiseach's comments come in the wake of a new Business Post/Red C poll showing support rising for Mary Lou McDonald's party.

Snow-ice warning issued for seven counties
A status yellow snow-ice warning has been issued for several counties.
The alert is in place for the five counties in Connacht, plus Cavan and Donegal.
It comes into effect from 6.00pm on Sunday until 11.00am Monday.
