Eighteen people arrested following Garda operation in Co Louth

Eighteen people have been arrested in Co Louth at the end of a day of action against criminal gangs.

The arrests were made earlier on Thursday as part of Operation Stratus - which is investigating criminality within the Drogheda Garda district.

A total of 34 searches were also carried out.

'Unsafe' MMA event cancelled in Co Monaghan 

A sports event due to be held in Co Monaghan on Saturday has been cancelled over safety concerns.

Sports Minister Shane Ross and Minister of State Brendan Griffin have welcomed the cancellation of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event.

It was due to take place at Treacy's Hotel in Carrickmacross.

An Irish family facing deportation from Australia has asked for public support before their visa ends on June 18th.

Christine Hyde from Dublin has asked people to share their story and sign their petition as they wait to see if the Immigration Minister will intervene in their case.

Christine said the family have until June 18th for the Minister to intervene.

Antibiotic prescriptions could significantly reduce with new technology

A new technology could half the number of people needing antibiotics for respiratory tract infections.

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has published an assessment, recommending that a pilot programme of C-reactive protein point-of-care testing be considered.

HIQA has said a "carefully managed and monitored pilot programme" should be considered by the Health Minister Simon Harris.

'Scuber' service to allow people explore Australia's Great Barrier Reef

A new rideshare submarine is giving people the chance to explore the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Aptly named 'Scuber', the venture is a tie up between the Queensland government and taxi app Uber.

It will cost passengers AUS$1,500 (€925) per person, with a minimum cost of AUS$3,000 (€1,850) per ride.
