Man charged with hundreds of sex abuse offences after US extradition
A 38-year-old man has been refused bail at a special sitting of a court in the Midlands, where he faced nearly 400 sex abuse charges.
A detective inspector told the court that at 8.32am today he executed 394 arrests warrants for the man - who cannot be named - at Dublin Airport.
He was extradited from the United States.
Guns, drugs and a monkey seized in Garda operation in Dublin
Gardaí have arrested two men and a woman after firearms, ammunition, drugs and a monkey were seized in Dublin.
The operation took place on Friday morning on the Ratoath Road in Finglas.
During the course of searches, they discovered a machine pistol, sub-machine gun, a .357 calibre revolver as well as 300 rounds of assorted 9mm and .357 ammunition.
Man who claimed to be missing US boy charged with making false statements
A man in the US, who claimed to be missing boy Timmothy Pitzen, has been charged with making false statements to a federal agent.
Brian M Rini could face up to eight years in prison, after claiming he was the Illinois boy who vanished in 2011.
Rini was found walking alone on Wednesday morning around 800km from where Timmothy went missing.
Birmingham pub bombings: Botched IRA warning call led to 21 deaths, jury finds
A botched warning call by the IRA caused or contributed to the deaths of 21 people killed in the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings, an inquest jury has concluded.
Two bombs exploded in the Tavern in the Town and the Mulberry Bush pub in the city centre on November 21st 1974, with more than 200 people left injured.
Nobody has ever successfully been brought to justice for the attack.
Paperless tickets to be trialled on some Bus Éireann routes
A number of Bus Éireann regional routes are to trial paperless tickets later this year.
The National Transport Authority (NTA) has announced a contract for a mobile ticketing system to Cubic Transportation Systems Ltd.
This provides a number of key services required to operate and administer the system.
