Patrick Quirke jailed for life for the murder of Bobby Ryan
Patrick Quirke will spend his first night in prison tonight after being found guilty of murdering his ex-lover’s boyfriend Bobby Ryan.
He was earlier handed a mandatory life sentence.
After killing the local DJ - also known as Mr Moonlight - the 50-year-old farmer from Breanshamore, Co Tipperary dumped his body in an underground tank on his ex-lover's farm.
Cabinet approves new laws to tackle 'revenge porn' and online harassment
The Cabinet has approved plans to create new criminal offences aimed at combating revenge porn and online harassment.
Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan has secured Government backing for amendments to the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Bill.
Minister Flanagan and officials are working with the bill's original sponsor, Deputy Brendan Howlin, to progress it on a priority basis.
Adidas announces plan for 100% recyclable shoe
Sports brand Adidas has unveiled plans for a fully recyclable running shoe.
The Futurecraft.Loop project is aimed at tackling the problem of plastic waste, where the raw materials can be repurposed again and again into another pair of shoes.
The company has said the shoes are "made to be remade from the outset", by using one material type and no glue.

A Fine Gael meeting attended by the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar had to be suspended after protesters crashed it this evening.
Mr Varadkar and Tánaiste Simon Coveney are in Cork holding a town hall meeting about the plebiscite for a directly elected mayor there.
As it began, a number of protesters from the Connolly Youth Movement interrupted to read statements about homelessness and other issues.
Consultants group 'alarmed' over Government response to Waterford mortuary concerns
The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) has expressed 'alarm' about the Government's response to concerns about the mortuary at Waterford University Hospital.
It emerged last week that four consultant pathologists at the hospital wrote to the HSE to say the Waterford mortuary was way over capacity.
Their letter stated: "Bodies decompose in the corridors, leading to closed-coffin funerals with relatives unable to view the remains as a result of gaseous decomposition."
