Seventeen arrests during day of action in Cork

Gardaí arrested seventeen people on Thursday after a day of action in Cork as part of Operation Thor.

It is in relation to a number of incidents - such as suspected possession of child pornography, assault, burglary, theft, drugs and immigration offences.

A man in his 40s was arrested in relation to suspected possession of child pornography in the Ovens area.

Man in serious condition after shooting in north Dublin

A man has been shot at a house in north Dublin.

It happened at around 7.10pm on Friday on Streamville Road in Donaghmede.

The 30-year-old sustained a number of gunshot wounds and was taken to Beaumont Hospital in a serious condition.

Boris Johnson: I'll get a Brexit deal by mid-October

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has claimed he will secure a Brexit deal from Brussels by mid-October.

It comes as a bill aiming to block a no-deal Brexit will become law on Monday, after being approved by the House of Lords there.

It was brought by a group of MPs - and is designed to force Mr Johnson to ask the European Union for another delay.

Former male model charged with money laundering offences

A former male model who featured in a Garda campaign has appeared in court charged with laundering almost €1.2m in cash.

The offences took place over five years at a number of locations in Dublin.

Mark Adams, who previously appeared in an anti drink-driving Garda campaign, appeared before Dublin District Court this afternoon.

US House Committee to examine Mike Pence's stay at Trump Doonbeg

A US committee is to investigate how US taxpayer funds are used at properties owned by President Donald Trump.

It comes after US Vice-President Mike Pence stayed at Mr Trump's International Golf Links resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare during an official trip to Ireland.

Mr Pence attended meetings in Dublin - including with President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
