The details of a dramatic five hour operation to rescue a couple in their 50s from a dense thicket of rhododendrons in the Knockmealdown Mountains, Co. Tipperary have emerged.
The pair - who are both experienced hill walkers - had become trapped in a very dense rhododendron forest on Sunday.
They were helped off a treacherous area of steep ground overlooking Bay Lough by nightfall.
Mountain Rescue spotters, who were able to make visual contact with the two experienced hill walkers, guided rescuers to their location by radio.
Cahir River Rescue then stepped in to transport the two across Bay Lough to safety, with the help of Mountain Rescue personnel.
Georgina Kelly is with the mountain rescue.
