Extinction Rebellion protesters have covered themselves in fake blood outside an oil and gas industry conference in Dublin.
Activists poured 15 litres of blood in front of the entrance to the conference to “represent the blood on the hands of the oil corporations.”
They also burned plaster cast models of the earth to “represent the Arctic on fire.”

Spokesperson Emma Horan said it is the protesters second day of action at the conference.
“We were here yesterday and we interrupted Minister Seán Canney’s speech – a member of the Government who has been facilitating this conference.
“Activists glued themselves onto the lobby inside and we blocked the entrance so people couldn't get in.
“So they know we were coming because the message we gave them yesterday was that we will be back and we won’t stop until this kind of thing is discontinued.”
This morning I interrupted a speech by Minister for Natural Resources Sean Canney. A representative from the Department of Climate Action and Environment was also speaking. This was at a conference on Irish hydrocarbon potential, sponsored by ExxonMobil and other FF companies.

In his speech to the conference, Seán Canney, the Minister of State for Natural Resources said the Government views gas as an “important transition fuel.”
He confirmed that the Government had blocked the Climate Emergency Bill – which aimed to block all fossil fuel exploration in Ireland – by refusing to issue a money message for the bill.
The protesters said they held the global oil companies attending the Atlantic Ireland Conference and Exhibition “responsible for the climate crisis.”
They said the fake blood symbolises the people who are “already dying right now because of climate crises in less privileged parts of the world than this.”
