A date has been set for the extradition hearing of an Algerian man who is wanted in the US on international terrorism charges.

Ali Charaf Damache was originally arrested over a plot to murder the Swedish cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog.

Ali Charaf Damache, who's known online as 'the Black Flag', has been living in Ireland for a decade.

The 47-year-old first came to public attention in 2010 when he was arrested over the so-called Jihad Jane plot to murder Lars Vilks.

Vilks, a Swedish cartoonish, controversially depicted the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog.

The cartoons were printed in a newspaper in Sweden in 2007.

He's now wanted in the US for conspiracy to provide material to terrorists and of attempted identity theft to facilitate an act of international terrorism.

Mr Damache has been remanded in custody to appear before his extradition hearing on September 10th.

The court heard that it's expected to take up to three days.
