Professional services firm EY has announced the creation of over 800 new jobs at its seven offices across the island.
Just over three-quarters of the new jobs will be based in Dublin, with the rest spread across Cork, Galway, Belfast, Limerick and Waterford.
It will take the company’s workforce in Ireland to over 4,200.
Some 414 of the new jobs will be advertised to experienced candidates, with the remaining 402 available to university graduates.
Roles are available in the company's core areas of tax, audit, corporate finance and consulting as well as in 'new growth areas', including technology, consulting, digital and emerging technology, data analytics, cyber security, sustainability, law, strategy and transformation.
The Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the announcement is a “strong endorsement of the all-Island economy”.
“It’s always encouraging to see high-value jobs being created for both experienced professionals and the next generation of university graduates alike,” he said.
"It’s a testament to the skills and talent available here in Ireland and a welcome endorsement of Ireland’s attractiveness as a place to invest and grow.
“While COVID-19 has changed the way we live, work and do business, we have seen that there is enormous opportunity for businesses to evolve as the world around us also continues to adapt.”
EY Ireland Managing Partner Frank O’Keeffe said the recruitment follows a period of market-leading growth for the company.
“The fundamental changes brought about by the pandemic, coupled with wider macroeconomic headwinds and shifting business models, have created increased demand for our services as we help our clients tackle their most complex business challenges,” he said.
“Our clients are increasingly looking to EY to help them navigate change but also to seek out opportunities to help them transform, grow and prosper into the future.
“We’re looking for the best talent to join our world-class teams as we support our incredible clients to unlock their full potential.”
EY said it has promoted or progressed more than one-third of its workforce over the past year.
It said it hopes to advertise and fill the 'experienced hire' roles by the end of June 2020.
