A Brazilian man has gone on trial accused of murdering his wife in Dublin.
The jury was told they will have to decide whether the special verdict in respect of insanity applies in his case.
Diego Costa Silva is accused of murdering his wife, Fabiole Camara de Campos at their apartment at Charlestown Place in Finglas on the 4th of November 2021.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Before a jury was sworn in, the judge told potential jurors that the issue that will concern them most relates to the issue of a special verdict in terms of insanity.
They were also told they would hear evidence from two consultant forensic psychiatrists.
The trial, which is due to take up to five days, will open this afternoon.
