With the launch of George at Asda’s bridesmaid collection looming - would you buy your bridesmaids’ dresses from a supermarket?
Often the most expensive day in a couple’s life, a wedding comes with many expenses - but bridesmaid dresses need no longer be on the top of that list.
George at Asda, a UK supermarket brand, has launched a range of affordable bridesmaid dresses, starting from £24/€30.
On Lunchtime Live, stylist Laura Mullett said the George at Asda range is a “fabulous option”.
“I think you don't have to spend a fortune for your bridesmaids to look gorgeous,” she said.
“We're not sabotaging them and putting them in dresses that aren't nice.
“It is refreshing to see these really cool, edgy styles that if you went on a website like Revolve, which a lot of Irish women go to for a really upscale style, it's an American website, you're paying €600/€700.
“So I think it's kind of a designer dupe vibe that people are so grateful for at an expensive time.”

Ms Mullett said low cost doesn’t necessarily mean low quality.
“I'll be super honest here - I went on to [the website] ASOS on Black Friday and I got four of my bridesmaids dresses for the price of one and the girls looked absolutely spectacular and loved their dresses,” she said.
“I don't think it means you're just going to get some flimsy dress that's not going to photograph well.
“I think Irish people pride themselves on bagging a bargain and I think the likes of ASDA coming out [with bridesmaid dresses] it's a sigh of relief for people, because when it comes to a wedding… there's all these costs and if you can find something that looks gorgeous, sure, why wouldn't you take that option?”

Also on the show, Newstalk’s Helena O’Toole who recently got married said the price of bridesmaid dresses can be hugely expensive.
“When I was shopping, most of the shops I went to you're really at about €150/€200 for some of them and €250/€300 [for others] - it's a lot of money,” she said.
“If you have three or four bridesmaids, it's a big chunk of change - and that's just the dresses, you have to get shoes, you have to accessorize.
“So if brides out there can save the money and get a gorgeous dress for €30 Euro - why not?”
Helena also said that no matter how gorgeous the dresses are - it’s highly unlikely your bridesmaids are ever going to wear them again.
