Facebook is adding a new feature to the social networking site.

Users will soon be able to click the “want” button and let their friends know what they need, in the run up to Christmas.

The button works as a wishlist informing Facebook friends of gifts they desire the most.

The move is brought in by Facebook to allow online shopping to work through their site and target their 1 billion users directly.

The “like” button on Facebook has become one of the most recognisable symbols on the internet.

The firm is working with seven retailers, including lingerie store Victoria’s Secret and American furniture store Pottery Barn, to test the new feature.

Facebook said: “People will be able to engage with these collections and share things they are interested in with their friends. People can click through and buy these items off of Facebook.”
