The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) owes An Garda Síochana more than €357,000 for policing duties at international matches in Dublin, the force has confirmed.
It relates mainly to games in the Aviva Stadium last year, with Ireland having played six games at the stadium in 2019.
In a statement, An Garda Síochana said they are continuing to try to recover €357,244.95 in outstanding fees - but added that the debt has no impact on the Garda budget.
Accounts published late last year revealed that the FAI had liabilities of over €55 million, while Minister of State Brendan Griffin later told an Oireachtas committee that the association's debt stood at €62 million.
Fergus O'Dowd, chairman of the Oireachtas Sports Committee, this evening said "an awful lot of money" remains unpaid to gardaí.
He said: "[The force] should be a priority creditor for the FAI, because the matches can't be held unless you have adequate and appropriate stewarding by professional policemen.
"Clearly the gardaí and the taxpayer shouldn't be out of pocket for that."
He added: "It's another example of the FAI not coming out with the facts.
"It looks like to me a blackhole that keeps getting deeper."
