A family of four people have been rescued after their boat ran aground on Lough Derg.
Lough Derg RNLI said the alarm was raised at around 5:30pm yesterday and the Jean Spier lifeboat was launched.
The crew found the 32ft cruiser with the family on board around 40 minutes later near Parker’s Point on the Tipperary shore of the lake.
The two adults, child and a baby were all safe and wearing their lifejackets.
The RNLI said the area was particularly rocky and the crew had to use navigation charts and depth soundings to safely get to the grounded cruiser.
One crew member joined the family on their boat and once he was sure it was not holed, set up a tow to bring it back to safety.
The lifeboat then accompanied the cruiser back to Garrykennedy Harbour where the family disembarked.
The RNLI is reminding all boat owners to study their charts and remain within navigation channels while out on the water.
