A Dublin farmer has found a novel way to stay in style while the country's barbershops remain on COVID-19 lockdown.

A video of Donie Anderson giving himself a trim with a traditional sheep shears has been shared by more than 20,000 people online.

Mr Anderson had his sheepdogs Bob and Jess for company as he debuted his new look on his farm in Glenasmole in the Dublin mountains.

He can be heard telling them: “Sure it’ll grow back in a couple of days and no one will notice anyway;” however, he may have been barking up the wrong tree when he asked them to tell him if he “missed a bit.”

It took him a total of four minutes to finish the job.

Renowned for his love of traditional sheep farming, Mr Anderson was recognised for his skill with a traditional sheep shears when he was included in last year’s National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

He also won the traditional hand shearing competition at last year’s Hollywood fair.

Sheepdog Jess has won fame in her own right for her skill herding ducks, hens and geese into pens and trailers at country fairs around the country.
