Legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has died at the age of 85 according to French media reports.
The German-born designer was creative director of luxury brand Chanel for more than 30 years – while also designing collections for his own brand and fashion house Fendi.
French media is reporting that he was admitted to the American Hospital in Paris yesterday and passed away this morning.
Lagerfeld was recognised around the world for his distinctive long white hair, black sunglasses, gloves and high starched collars.
The 85-year-old was one of the world’s most prolific fashion designers working right up until a few weeks ago.
His death comes just a month after he failed to attend the Chanel Fashion Show in Paris for the first time since 1983.
At the time Chanel said he was skipping the event because he was “tired.”
