Gardaí are appealing to anyone with information surrounding a fatal hit and run in Cavan on Friday afternoon.
Yesterday a male pedestrian was killed after getting hit by a vehicle along the N3 near Billis Bridge in the townland of Ballyjamesduff, County Cavan.
Shortly after 12pm the body of the man in his 50s was discovered by a road user.
It is understood the incident occurred sometime between 10pm on Thursday, 18th August, and 12pm on Friday.
Gardaí and Emergency Services attended the scene where the man was pronounced dead.
The road has reopened following a full technical examination by Forensic Collision Investigators.
It was identified that the male was struck by a vehicle which fled the scene.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at Cavan General Hospital. The Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
Gardaí in Bailieboro are appealing to any person who witnessed unusual activity in the area or is aware of a vehicle with unexplained damage to come forward.
They have also asked those who were on the N3 between 10pm on Thursday and 12 noon on Friday to provide any dash-cam footage recorded.
