An inquest into the deaths of a father and daughter in West Cork has heard Martin McCarthy ended his own life and drowned his 3-year-old daughter Clarissa when he took her into the sea with him.
The bodies of the pair were recovered from the sea near their family farm in Ballydehob in March 2013.
Today's inquest heard that Mr. McCarthy, who was fifty, left a note in the dairy of his farm stating his intentions.
Verdicts of death by drowning were returned by the coroner, but in the case of Mr. Carthy it was found to be self-inflicted.
Mr. McCarthy's widow Rebecca returned from the United States to Bantry for today's inquest.
