The HSE's revealed that the blood group of babies born in a number of Irish hospitals may have been incorrectly reported.

Its emerged that a 'small' number of testing kits used to determine a newborn's blood type at the time of their delivery, had been incorrectly labelled.

The kits were used at five hospitals including the Rotunda, Cavan and Galway.

The HSE says the hospitals concerned began contacting affected Mothers on August 12th, and its stressing that the number affected by the manufacturing error will be low.
