Up to 100 workers at Dan Morrissey in Carlow are meeting at the plants headquarters in Bennekerry this morning amid concerns for the future of the business.
It is understood the company has gone to court this morning in the hopes of having an examiner appointed.
The Bennekerry and Clonmelsh sites are both under lock and key this morning with security present.
160 people are employed by the company in Carlow.
The quarrying and concrete production firm is based in Carlow and Wicklow.
It was established by Dan Morrissey in the 1930s.
The family-owned business is one of the biggest independent suppliers of materials to the Irish construction industry.
